Is the F-35 going to do a demo? I’d love to see it. I got some nice pix of the F-35 at a show in Fort Worth back in 2017 . It’s an impressive plane up close.  Had a really great conversation with the pilot, too.

No demos.  Pilot has quite the line of folks waiting to talk to him.  There is a rumor here about a demo next year.

I caught him late in the day, when most people had gone home. I opened by asking him if he liked his jet, and I got an emphatic yes. We talked about the jet, the program, his role in the new connected battlefield, military history, the shape of future conflicts, all sorts of things. He was quiet and thoughtful, very squared away.  Right next to him was an F-22, and I tried to talk to that pilot, but he was the quintessential fighter jock who could only brag about how his plane would kick everybody’s ass. I guess that’s what you want in a air superiority pilot. I think the F-35 pilot was so talkative because I was the first person who didn’t ask, “How many bombs can you carry?”
